Out of hibernation
Its been a long wait, but, finally,hopefully, I will get my Burb back from the shop, ready to roll. She was starting and running rough, but made it to the repair shop. Main proceedure will be a new fly wheel, along with some other (hopefully) minor tweaking. It felt so good to get 'er out on the road. And we can't forget my trusty side kick, Thomas.

Oh my gosh yall. You have no idea how bad I have wanted to get this truck on the road. I really hope this is it. Summer is just starting, two weeks of school left, I ready to go!

I know this makes you happy. Much happier once it's outta the shop! I'd wager the fuel went south making it start and run badly,if it ran ok before. This stuff they sell us is pure crap.

Since you brought it up. My fix it guy says I should either be running ethanol free fuel or adding something to every tank. He says the regular gas is part of the reason it's running bad? Any input?

Man i know the feeling! My truck's been in the shop for over a month and we ended up doing a full rebuild of the engine. Dropping the engine back in today hopefully be driving it home tomorrow!

And a can of sea foam in the tank too. It will help clean the inside your carb up if you don't need to have it rebuilt.

I would be a good idea but, if its been sitting quite a while with ethanol gas in the carb. I would go for the rebuild. Ethanol added fuel (gas) is corrosive. Plastic and rubber items seem to distort and weaken over a period of time. I run non-ethanol as much as I can. Usually, rotate one tank of ethanol free 89 octane and then one tank of 10% ethanol 89 octane - Shell or BP brand. Every 3K oil change, I dump a can of sea foam in the tank with the next fill-up. Works for me...
Wish you were closer, Q-Jet carb rebuild (R&R) would take 2 hrs of labor and a rebuild kit for $25.00. |
