New to Forum, from Ohio.
I found myself in need of a truck for work and decided to do it with some style.
Style in the form of a 1970 C20, that is. This forum has already been immesurable in the resurecting of my truck. I bought it as a basket case, complete with gutted dash and electrical, busted brake lines, etc! (and i'm a complete newb to restos) Poor thing probably has not run in @5 years. My question is.... Would a 1970 C20 with a 350 have a THM350 Transmission? Just wondering if it once had a 400? Really matters not, as this is the truck that I have and there's a THM350 in it...just curious. Welcome!
look at your SPID on the glove box, it should give you the original engine/trans information

Ah! Thanks!
Had to dig the glove box lid out of a box...like I said, basket case. All it says is Turbo Hydro Matic...not 350 or 400. I was just wondering as the top/center tranny bolt was missing...sure sign of a replacement engine or tranny...and a lazy job at that. Anyway...with that fixed, I'll be back to trying to start'er up again. I had it making smoke, but not firing per se. Betting that the timing is 180˚ out. We'll see once the new distributor arrives. Welcome to the forum. I need to check in here more often I like finding new guys from Ohio, but it's even more fun when I know where they're from. My in-laws use to have a place on Catawba, now they have a place off 163 on Hidden Beach rd. Last year was the first time in years we haven't gone up, I'd love to bring the truck up and maybe hit up the Apple fest car show, maybe we'll get a chance to meet up sometime. Have you posted up any pics of you truck on here yet?

I would love to meet up and truck talk some summer day. Message me if you're up this way. I've posted no pics as I've yet to learn how to do so here. Been busy getting truck going & running my guitarmaking bizz. Went for front wheel alignment and found out why the old truck sat for so long... Pretty substantial damage to passenger front & steering. Had my steering wheel from 12 o'clock to 9 to go straight. First job I've had to hire out on the truck. MufflerSmiths are doing the work and should be ready soon. Even with that, I'm still under $3K for the truck. Photo when I get the chance... Cheers! Posted via Mobile Device |
