Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

I second it, I have a friend in Law enforcement in OKC and she said it was devastating! I pray for those first responder's, victims and their families!

I just cant imagine what they are going through...

Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

Just joined the hurricane response team in Florida. If you've ever seen a hurricane, you know- them suckers don't mess around. Either do I. God says "that the best you got" and I will respond. Best wishes to Oklahoma.

Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

I have some family out there in the Oklahoma area that was effected but to the best of my knowledge they made it through okay.

Prayers to everyone out there effected by this massive tornado. I had some family just barely escape the bad ones that hit Tuscaloosa, Al a couple years ago also. Them kind of storms are so scary....never know what they are going to do.

Mom was born in Moore, I still have an Aunt living there, she's 92. I can't reach her, phones are down. I'm trying to reach her Grandson.

Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

The one that hit Wellston the day before just hopped over my house. Trees down on one side, houses torn on the other. Me, the wife and the babies all snug in the middle. Talk about a close call. Scared the heck out of us.

The one in Moore tore one of our co-worker's house off the foundation though. His 10 yr old son was home alone too. Not something I'd do, but it happens alot anymore. He made it to a shelter and he's ok, but all that's left of their house is a concrete slab and bits of the driveway. It's SHOCKING to see that the place you drove up to the night before is just an empty lot now and you own NOTHING.

Imagine that for a minute, you come home and nothing is there but a rock. All of your stuff is probably scattered a mile away from where you're standing.

After this I've backed up all of our photos, movies, and computer stuff (4 tb of stuff) and shipped it to parents out of state. I'll swap it out every couple of months and make sure we don't lose all of those memories. We can buy new clothes and cars. Insurance will cover alot. We can't re-take pictures of babies all grown up.

We go through this same thing every 4-5 years in Oklahoma. It's usually a tiny tornado that tears up a few roofs so no big deal. Hide in a closet and you're fine. But this thing wasn't playing fair. It was like a massive drill bit that only moved at 20 miles per hour literally GRINDING a hole along a two mile wide path. There was no way you'd survive it in a closet. You had to be underground. It's just awful.

Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

I live in Chickasha which is 30 miles southwest of Moore. Me and mine are all fine of course and we are thankful that it didn't hit us, but our hearts and prayers go out to all that were.

I would like to say this though... We Oklahomans are no strangers to extreme disastors, but we come through everytime with pride. I HOPE that other states share a sense of community that we share here in Oklahoma. I know alot of you see it on the news but this state is a huge family and there is an outpouring of volunteers, so many that authorities are turning people away now because there are more than enough. I LOVE this state and we will push right on through. God bless Oklahoma and the rest of the U.S. for your thoughts and prayers.

Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

God bless you all in Moore OK and those of you around that are helping out. We are sending our prayers and a little money to help what we can. When you lose everything like that the best we can pray for is that your loved ones are well. From one O state to another God bless you all.

Re: Shout Out to Oklahoma

We dodged the bullet in Tulsa....storms went north and south of us. Bad deal in Moore........3 times in the last 15 years.....I think I would move.....
the 2011 storm that got Joplin skipped over us. We will be hit again someday it is our turn.........do not think we have been hit since December of 1975, before that june 8, 1973
