Rear Sports Bumper

Currently I have a step work bumper on my truck and I am about to purchase a chrome sport bumper but had a question. Will my mounting brackets work with the new bumper? Also has anyone purchased the bumper from LMC?

Re: Rear Sports Bumper

you will need different brackets, and if my memory serves me the total for all the brackets is more than the cost for the bumper. I bought my bumper from LMC, it's been about ten years ago now, so don't know if they are using the same vendor, but the finish isn't as good as original for sure. Then again it came from across the ocean in the area know as ROC. Not being bitter, but it is what it is..Still like the looks tho...good luck with your project.

Yeah the cost of the brackets are almost as much as the bumper. That is the reason I was asking....130.00$ just for the mounting brackets. LMC now offers 2 different finishes. Chrome and Premium Chrome (Triple Plated)

Re: Rear Sports Bumper

not only the brackets, but a license plate light, and the license housing is also needed to finish off the look. I was able to get the light at the junkyard and save a few, but the housing wasn't available so had to buy new and paint. I also recently replaced the front bumper and bought the "premium" grade, it isn't like the factory originals, but not bad as far as the finish. I'd pay the extra, don't know what the other looks like, but polishing before chroming might not happen to the lessor quality one.

Yeah I priced the front and rear bumper with the brackets and the license plate holder and my total is around 700$.

Re: Rear Sports Bumper

While the four bumper brackets may be hard to find at the wrecking yard, the license plate box and license plate light from a 73-90s chevy/GMC van is the same part and much easier to find.

Re: Rear Sports Bumper

You could also use the license plate box from a suburban. Or the whole bumper for that matter, its the same as a truck sport bumper as are the outside brackets. The inner brackets are truck specific.....

Re: Rear Sports Bumper

I used a bumper from a 67-72, the outer brackets are modified from a 60-66, I haven't done the inners yet.. The Suburban sport bumper I had was kind of beat up, I had this one around, I'm happy with if for now
