Hints /Tips on Chevy 60/40 seat Install

I will be picking up a late model 1998 Chevy 60/40 seat and was wondering if any of the original holes work and if I need to make an adapter for the 60/40 section to sit level .I remember someone saying they had to move the seat forward to get the consule to come down( if you leave the tank behind the seat) .

Thanks

Bill from the ones I've seen, its a simple bolt in. You might have to change a hole or make a spacer etc. I looked at one at the Super Chevy in Bristol that had a 'burb seat, had the trim around the bottom looked factory. What color are you goin' with gray seems to be the most popular. They make one of the best lookin'seats in our trucks.

You'll use 2 of the original bolt holes and make one space for the middle bracket. I believe its 4inches long.

IMHO they fit perfect!

You can add a spacer on the front to give your legs a bit more support too.

Bill
I bolted mine in using the front two outer original seat holes. I have the 94 style 60/40 so I'm not sure how much differnt the newer ones are. I had to have 3 1" spacers for the 2 outer rear mounts and the inner rear mount on the driverside. I used some 3/4" to 1/2" Plumping adapters from Home depot. Turned out to be perfect size 3/8x2" grade 8 bolts/nuts on those. The inner passenger mounts...for the front I have a 1 3/4" spacer and used 2-1/2" grade 8 bolt. The inner rear passnger side I used a 3/8"-1" bolt and some HD washer to get the right height match.

I also used the newr style 3 point belts. I bought a longer bolt (2 1/2" length...forgot other part) for the inner seat belt holes This spaced them out far enough to sit at the correct distance.

This puts my seat 3/4" - 1" higher than stock, but I like the positin much better. My steering wheel is 16 1/2"...almost stock size and I am not having any clearance issues.

My web site does not show the split bench install yet, but the regular bench will give you an idea.
