Hello everyone i am new here, i have owned 3 C10's and i have lowered the rear by just yanking out some leaf springs. Can you post some pics of some flip jobs and what kind of drop is acheived by this method. Thanks and welcome any advice.

Welcome!
Here is a pic of my homemade flip. Lower spring plate/shock mount is from speedway motors. U bolts are factory. Spring pads are speedway motors.
Gives a 5-6 inch drop depending on how thick your leaf springs are.

Thanks, not really a good welder but is there a bolt on application? Or is that even possible.

Thanks! While I am picking brains, can I change out the oil pan gasket without pulling the motor? Truck had been sitting for years and I would like to change out all the gaskets seals water pump timing chain etc.
Thanks for all the help also.

Re: Need pics or some flip drops pls.

Timing chain replacement is almost dummy proof. Just make sure the #1 cylinder is at top dead center (highest point on the compression stroke) to ensure the timing marks are lined up. Replace the gear in the same orientation that they came off, and make sure that the crank and/or cam do not turn when the chain is off. That will make for a very unhappy engine.

Re: Need pics or some flip drops pls.

This is the one I fabricated out of 1/2" flat bar for the flip, and 3/16" flat for the shock extenders. The 1/2" is too thick, so a cove is cut to saddle the axle tube - should stop the axle from shifting the DJM one did above. Not sure on the drop as I didn't measure before, and the box isn't on yet.

Re: Need pics or some flip drops pls.

Do any of you guys have problems with the frame hitting the axle? I know most of you just take off your bump stops. Would putting air bags in the back help with the ride?

How is the angle as far as the rear end with this method? any shimming involved? or does the angle not change?
