Forward Porterbilt arms on a Square
Anyone have the Porterbilt tubular a-arms on the front of a squarebody? They said it pushes the wheels forward to help center the wheels. Id like to see how much of a difference it makes before I make a purchase..

Re: Forward Porterbilt arms on a Square
Porterbuilt makes many different a-arms.
If you are thinking about buying a set for a stock crossmember truck,... you have to ask for their "Forward Series" a-arms. A Dropmember equipped trucks use a set of regular Porterbuilt a-arms,... since the Dropmember itself, moves the wheels forward. (I didn't want you to think that ALL Porterbuilt a-arms move the wheels forward)

They are only one inch forward which don't sound like much,But when your lowered with big wheels its makes a big difference and clearances.

Re: Forward Porterbilt arms on a Square
This one has a Dropmember,... but it would be really similar to this.
(only picture I can find of these trucks air'd all the up) "Wheel Placement" of the front wheels is so much better.

Re: Forward Porterbilt arms on a Square
Here is an unfinished one of my son's '82 with the Lower Forward Arm only. The tire is a 275/45r20 in this picture....
Here it is sitting on the weight of the truck at ride height. He is running the coils spring, not an air bag. There is a billet retainer that is available separate to use coil springs insted of bags. The tire is a 245/45r20 in this picture. We will end up running 255/40r20's when we get it on the road...

Re: Forward Porterbilt arms on a Square
relocating the lower ball joint 1" forward will also give you some much needed caster gain so you dont burn the front tires of from under steer

Re: Forward Porterbilt arms on a Square
Thanks guys. It makes more of a difference than I thought. I want to run their forward arms off my stock crossmember. Time to start saving up...
