Installing sun visors on rods
I've got a 63 c20 and ordered new sun visors to install. the originals were quite a pain in the ass to get off and now the new ones wont slide on the rods all the way. they go on half way but no further. also they only will go on by spinning in one direction and wont spin back the other way either.
I cleaned and sanded the rods but haven't tried any type of lube yet. the originals were really hard to lower as well. my concern is if I do get them on all the way that when installed they wont spin anyway. should I just keep sanding them down to make them skinnier or is there a trick i'm missing. |

Re: Installing sun visors on rods
I used lube (grease) on the second one and it was easier than putting it on dry, but was still hard going on. If you push to hard on the visor the cardboard will distort. Clean, lube, patience, finesse and a little luck should work. Push and spin for your best chance.

Re: Installing sun visors on rods
Any ideas on why it only wants to spin in one direction. no threads ect. Also this is a concern since I don't want to install them and have them stuck in the up or down position. maybe it will once its all the way on. seems strange since the old ones even though stiff would still spin a bit.

Re: Installing sun visors on rods
I Had the same problem, all the repro stuff I have bought you have to massage a little bit to fit. It has to fit tight so it doesn't fall, so if you have to spin it one direction to get it on that's ok, Mine did the same thing and once it got to the bottom it worked properly. Clean it, Grease it up and spin it on.
Let us know how it worked out, Good luck |
