Props at shows? Cheesy?
I'm on the fence about having some props at these shows. While at some antique shops thus weekend I ran into a few things. Magazines are easy. Throw them in the front seat.
But I also found a lawn mower and tool box They would be going in this truck So would you think this is cheesy at a car show? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
I know I dog on these a lot, but I don't care. At least you're not taking one of those stupid dolls.
I actually like your props. It's interesting. Also, maybe you could find some album covers from hot bands that year, like Led Zeppelin, Beatles, etc. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
I found some Elvis 8 tracks from 67 but the truck has no radio so didn't pick them up.

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
Personal preference thing, me I don't like props. Let the truck speak for itself. But I do like a build picture album as long as I'm allowed to pick it up and look through it.

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
I think vintage is cool. The dolls are played out.I think the drive in movie speakers and drive in trays are also.Something unique or that would originally been carried in a truck is cool.Vintage luggage, picnic baskets and coolers are cool. The mags are cool but how often did folks carry them around back in the day?The mower or a bike would be cool.In the 60's and 70's almost all the customs and show cars had Fuel, oil and water cans,or tools on display.I don't think they need it bt if your going to do something in the way of a prop do something period that fits.

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
I think the magazines are fine. I personally don't go to car shows and point that stuff out though, and sometimes that stuff is more distracting than attention grabbing. The vehicles should really speak for themselves. I do understand its hard to stand out when you're parked next to several similar vehicles though. I love tri-5 chevys, but 15 in a row is cringe worthy and I'd need something to draw my attention.

I like the props at shows, I have an 8 track player so I have 8 tracks laying on the seats, It get noticed, Here is what I am planning to use as a prop, just need to get it restored, it is a 1971 Snow Cruiser like this one. Since I live up in northern Alberta it will fit in nicely.

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
I like some props.
I've used vintage cooler, my sons tot-rod, dealer documentation (protecto plate, order form, etc)., toolboxes, etc. Got a few ideas for a new project we have. But those will have to wait. Posted via Mobile Device

I like that toolbox as long as you put tools in it and use it as a toolbox. Don't bother with the rest of the stuff. Really nice lookin truck!

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
I'm thinking when I get my motor swap complete I got a running 1974 Cz250 I found in a shed "barn find" thats all original down to the tires. I cant wait to clean it up and put in the back for the Central Cruise we have down here in Phoenix. Here is a pic of it. Its a pretty cool looking dirt bike I think it will be cool to see all the looks. It kind of brings you back to that time period.

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
Props are way cool, I always try to put a couple of era correct items for attention at shows, even if just a pack of crusty smokes on the dash or a awesome comic book on the seat plus I always lug an old ice chess in the bed and keep my cleaning supplies in it just for everyday driving. But you won't find any dolls!!!!

Re: Props at shows? Cheesy?
Like CG said I let my truck speak for itself. I like to keep things simple. The only thing I do is put a 69 Chevy truck brochure on the front seat or dash and open it up to this page:
