3500HD Dana 80

Anybody know more about these? It's 10 lug with huge discs. The tubes are 4"-4.5" 4:56 tag. Casting says 80HD and 037453. Are they worth anything? Can you swap hubs from a dodge D80 to get 8 lug?

i THINK thats only on the dodge dana 80. the real dana 80 (like pictured) was a 10 lug. dodge had what they called a "hybrid" dana 80. d80 pumpkin and dana 70 outers. as for if it swaps out, i have no idea...

Re: 3500HD Dana 80

Like said above the Dodge D80 uses all D70 parts other than the pumpkin. You can actually see where axle tubes are necked down. I wouldn't waste my time or money on that axle. Either find a Dodge D80 or just go with a med duty truck axle if you need the strength. Dana/Spicer S-110 axles have alot of gear ratio options and came with juice brakes. Not to mention a 500k oil change interval!

If it's cheap and you can get it to fit...why not.

Having to set up the gears/etc may be the expensive part.

Re: 3500HD Dana 80

Bringing this back to life... I'm in a similar situation. I was given a Dana 80 10 lug from a 90's Chevy cab/chassis. Gonna rebuild it so changing out parts is totally cool as its gonna be totally rebuilt... but its 10 lug and my '86 3500 dually has the 8 lugs (and I had just bought 6 new tires so i'm not gonna buy new tires and rims).

My understanding is a Dana 80 is a Dana 80... Chevy/Dodge/Ford... its still a Dana 80. So the parts should interchange fairly easily (even if I have to change axles and differential, cause I'm going to anyways).

How do I get it to an 8 lug? Does anyone have part #'s or year/make/model to reference? Its a disc brake Dana 80 and I wanna keep it that way, the rest of the parts (axles (splines), differential, etc... can go) as long as I end up with a 8 lug disc brake setup.

Thanks y'all!

-Chris

Go to : www.3500HD.com

It's not a very large forum , but you may find more info.
There are differences btw Chevy Ford and Dodge versions, 35 and 37 spline axles are one.
