Most comfortable features of your truck

Just wondering about what physically makes your truck more comfortable in your opinion .Whether it was factory installed or something you added . Ac, power steering , brakes , stereo , seat etc .

Good question...

Fun comes to mind more than comfortable

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

me being 6'7" in any new car i have to have the seat all the way back. which means the steering wheel is really far away. i almost always have to straight arm it for the duration of the drive, which is quite uncomfortable... my 72 i can just "hang" my arm from the wheel AND i have pleantly of leg room. plus they dont make seats as good as these anymore. with mine as broken in as it is, my rear end sinks down into it, and the back gives a kind of lumbar support

I'm hoping my winter project, dynomat (in my case Stinger Road Kill) pays off. I can tell some difference in the noise level but also hoping it will keep the exhaust heat out of the cab in the hot Texas heat.

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

One thing unique to old vehicles that I love about my truck is the lower vents and the vent windows.

Also a big fan of the AC I just installed.

Would have to say first thing is the coil rears, really ride like a car than the truck it is. Tied for second is also the vent wings and lower vents

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

I'd say my high end ceramic window tint that cuts out a lot of the heat while parked and driving. I also don't like that fishbowl feeling of having everyone see me as they tailgate, and tint helps with that.

I used RoadKill in my truck. Seems to work pretty good. You can listen to the radio with the windows up and the air on, stays cool and quiet.

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

just put power disc brake conversion on from ECE. now i aint doing leg presses everytime i want to slow down. wing windows are always good too. on a hot day with shorts on, the wing window shoots cool air straight up the leg and lets the boys breath. dries out the swamp down there from sitting down on a 5000degree vinyl seat

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

I should say the Vintage A/C I just added because living here next to the sun it is truly the most comfortable addition - but I'm sure several will mention A/C - so I will go on to #2.

The power steering that the PO installed. I know cranking that big wheel is part of driving an old truck and I enjoyed it tremendously when I had my AD truck... but when when I one finger turn in the drive like I'm wheelin' a Cadillac, it's hard to argue with power steering.

Tough choice but its a toss up between the vintage air and the power steering for me.

Not driving mine yet but I think the power steering and power disc brakes will be up at the top of the list.

Smile Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

No question about it:
The power steering, the power brakes....and that ultimate option: the tilt wheel. I swear by that tilt option....and if I bought another truck that didn't have it....that would be the first thing I'd probably put it in it!!
The tilt is used every time I enter and leave the truck...that other stuff like the a/c, the tach,...these are good 'side' options but not the most used by me.
My two bits.

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

The bed. I like being able to hop in the back unroll my big canvas (with the duck print inside!) and just look up at the stars...and space junk. My DD is a 98 XJ or a 2000 XJ and the 2000 is loaded so my truck doesn't have to drive comfy...

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

The buddy buckets, tilt and room in the cab Do wonders when you 6'+ so it's a real comfortable drive compared to anything newer.
As for the outside of the truck it would be the power disc, power steering and cool suspension.

Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

When I had it on the road I enjoyed the lack of all the fancy crap our new car has. There's no temp gauge for ambient air, no climate control, blue tooth, or oil life percentage. Those things to me are distracting and make driving feel like I'm this controlling parent who has to loom over every detail. The truck is simple and let's me enjoy the drive.

I agree. My newer Audi can be like a naggy b!tch sometimes, with all the little warnings. Of course, one of those is the scheduled maintenance warning. I do most my own service, but yet that light and beep nags me and requires a dealer reset the computer so it'll go away. Now, there's some bs...

Cool Re: Most comfortable features of your truck

I'd have to say just power brakes for safety and a 9 inch for traction everything else is just an afterthought something to be desired but not needed

Sorry to say this, because I agree with you and Mister-B. And, I'm not proud of being this lazy. But I LOVE these.

Although, they are a "second" or "third" to the Vintage Air and power steering.

I understand completely when you say you love that stuff. It gets around 105 here in the summer so AC is really enjoyable. In El Paso you could watch huge sand storms sweep in and slam your car or truck, and power windows came in handy for that! I wouldn't fault anyone for the modern conveniences they put in their vehicles. The one thing I will get and I'm not ashamed of, is power door locks! Mainly because I'd scratch the paint eventually locking the doors by hand, and it is easier to not lock my keys in the truck because they lock with the Fob on the key ring.
