replaced my ignition lock...cant get lock plate back in..help!!
I just replaced my ignition lock cylinder. Now i'm tryin to put my lock plate back in but the lock ring is not holding it in and it keeps popping back out. what do I do next? do they sell these rings?

theres a tool for this purpose sold by help.... yes you can get the rings if you need new ones NAPA has em here

Last time I checked NAPA no longer carries the snap ring, I usually get them from Corvette Central or GMpartseast

I usually tighten up the lock ring with pliers if its bent and loose. There is a recess in the lock plate for it so once you get it in the groove and release tension on the plate, the snap ring will be contained in a bit of a recess which should help keep it on place even more.

No I got it on the right way...I have a repair manual with the exploded diagram so I just refered to that. It's all good though..I called my mechanic and told him my situation and he loaned me that compressing tool and I got it back on fine. I guess I should buy me one of those.

I just copied the store bought tool with crap I had laying around. It's worked for about 20 years or so.
