Need new fan clutch, which one to get?

So the truck likes to run hot at idle or when not moving, and determined the fan clutch is bad(radiator, water pump, thermostat, coolant are all new) It really likes to freewheel. But I'm not sure which one to get between standard and heavy duty. I'm not sure whats even on the truck right now. It's purely a performance truck, no towing or hauling done with it. So I'm leaning toward the standard duty clutch cause I hear its better for performance. But being a truck and not a car, I'm not sure if i should go with the heavy duty because of the heavier weight. Plus, heavy duty is all that is listed when searching online for stock c10 parts.

Any opinions? Thanks.

What year truck do you have and what engine does it have?

Where have you looked for a fan clutch? Most local auto parts carry them. Also Rockauto is a good place to buy from.

I thought about electric, but have never installed one before so I was just gonna keep it simple and cheap and just get a new fan clutch.

I bought my standard fan clutch at NAPA. No problems to report.

x2 on AC Delco. I replaced mine with ACD a couple of years ago and it runs OK in 110 degree desert heat - all stock 454 C20.

I think the "Centrifugal " fan clutch is RPM controlled

Its the "Thermostatic" clutch that is temperature operated with the bi-metallic spring in front.
