truck 12 bolt rear diff question

How strong are they? I've been spoiled for too long with the larger FF 10.5" 14bolts and have no idea how tough the truck 12 bolts are.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: truck 12 bolt rear diff question

They are strong enough that GM put them behind all the factory Big Blocks, like SS Chevelles, Camaros, and trucks. The weakest part is the C- clips. Get C- clip eliminators to help resolve that weakness.

They are a little different, but are all the same size. 8.75" The 10 bolts are 8.5" and 7.5"

Ring gear the same but I think the pinion is smaller diameter on the truck 12 bolt. They are not interchangeable on the internals.

Re: truck 12 bolt rear diff question

I heard the truck 10bolt pinion is actually stronger than the truck 12 bolt pinion. That being said, there are people in the 9's with truck 12 bolts...
