Arrow 67 Chevy mini bread truck

Check this thing out. Found on craigslist.
http://reading.craigslist.org/cto/3785975245.html

Is this something that was put together or did they actually build them like this? I don't remember seeing anything like this when growing up.

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

I've never seen one like this. It probably was an aftermarket configuration. The ones I remember that GM built were the stepvan type. I like it though.

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

this is my buds truck it is cool it seems to be a mixtrue of a few differnt year parts but it is built off a true swb 1/2 ton c10. he had it a few years now and i believe he's got his heart set on another 67-69 camaro so he's looking to unload some of his toys earlier this week he sold his 64 tubbed bbc duece(sick car).
this truck was built right here in pa it is a boyertown body.
heres more reading on it in this thread i put up awhile ago
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=509921

it would be cool too own but my biggist issue is its too tall to fit in any of our garages
an i must say its really not in bad shape at all but it does need someone with the right mind set too finish it up correctly

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

Don't know the name of the aftermarket body builder, but I teetered for a while on buying a '49 F1 Ford pickup snout with a body-double twin to this truck. Had to be a custom add-on to a chassis & front clip purchase, the same way school buses & the earlier Campers were done.

The one I was admiring had an old milk company logo on the side of it.

I snooze, I lose. Somebody else was loading it on a trailer the day I went to go buy it.

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

The body is known as a " Package Delivery" if I'm remembering correctly the body styles were manufactured in Pennsylvania by "Boyertown" and "York-Hover" and in Ohio by "Montpelier Manufacturing", for different auto makers. (this one looks like a Ford, but I could be wrong).
I have a 1946 Chevy project like this, the short bodies also have a 127" wheel base. Thats a very cool rig for the money.

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

if my memory is correct it's called a "chassis cowl". you could get them from the factory with everything from the firewall forward on a complete chassis of your choice. Then you had the service body of your choice installed behind it. I think the "good humer"(sp) ice cream trucks were this way as well (with Ford noses). I've seen a few motorhomes like this as well.

he had told me awhile ago somebody from down yer way was intrested in it. i'm not sure if it was you or not . too my knowledge its still with him but i havent been over there yet this weekend yet(he's only 1/2 mi from me) but i plan to stop an say hi this evening. its i had the six and granny that was in it but they got let go on cl.

oh an yes it is inspected and it is in running driving condition theres really no reason it shouldnt pass Inspection. but most of us around here dont have any problems with inspections

i would pick it up but i really have a future plan of a either a blazer or a truck 4x4 after my 67 is done(i can only do one project at a time or i feel overwhelmed) but i keep thinking on how specail and rare it is

Yep, the predecessors To the box van conversions that are everywhere now. They were dropped off at the conversion shops and then shipped to the dealer who had sold them.

I like the idea your friend had for it Midniteblues, a nifty family hauler/camping rig.

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

School buses and armored cars are good examples of cowl & chassis still being built today.

Ask him if he wants to trade for a tow truck...justa thought. Prolly wants money. I pretty much do,too (for an engine in another truck).

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

Back in the day when I was stationed at Loring AFB in northern Maine, our local GSA emptied out a warehouse and was selling surplus gear stored in there.
They found a lightly used military ambulance that looked exactly like the body on this truck but the chassis was an International.

I wonder if this one had some military history in its past?

Re: 67 Chevy mini bread truck

bringing this back up only cause he actually finally sold it a few weeks ago.

he said it went too either va. or w va.

just curious if somebody on this site snatched it up.

i think all of us would like too see some actual progress on this rig.

Yeah! I was thinking maybe a 4x4 camping rig. Something like a Unimog.
