Manual Steering with Wide Rubber

So who on here has manual steering with tires other than stock width? I'm thinking of going with 255/40/20's on the front of my 70. I still have manual steering with the factory diameter wheel. How much worse is this extra width going to be. I'm running 225/70/15's on her right now.

I have 245s on the front, and they are no problem if not at a complete stop.

265/50/20's here. i fought the steering in any parking lot before and yep, its the still a pain in the ass. the only fix for it is power steering so until you do the conversion i wouldn't worry to much about how hard it is. the new tires aren't really any worse than the old small ones.

Re: Manual Steering with Wide Rubber

That's kinda what I figured. Shouldn't be that much worse going from a 225 to a 255

Re: Manual Steering with Wide Rubber

I have 255/55 on all four corners for mine. not a big deal at speed, minor nightmare parking. Just put on power steering though, happy days are here again.
