sid's droppe daxle wiht old tie rod ends?

Can you use a drop axle and retain the old tie rod (and ends) ? I realize then need to be stretched or modified so they continue to ride below the leafs as they are stock, but can you do so whilst retaining the old tie rod end style?

I ask because mine are new and in wonderful shape.
