'Burb trip to the Bluegrass
Took the Suburban on a trip to Kentucky weekend-before-last. The driveshaft still isn't perfect (after taking it back to the drivetrain shop a second time to have the balance checked) but didn't give me any trouble or wear out any U-joints over the 1,200 miles we drove. Not sure what the average MPG's for the whole trip was, but on the way back it did 13.8 down the parkways between Elizabethtown and Paducah driving 65 MPH ± 5 MPH, packing along a dog and 500 lbs. of luggage.
The cammed 350 loves RPM's - I didn't encounter a hill I couldn't hold 75 MPH on if I put my foot far enough into it (and she still had some left to go when I opened 'er up a little more) but dropping back to 60 it took a lot more effort to maintain speed; suppose the secondaries on the 4GC open somewhere between 60 and 75. Anyway, a few pics: Cruising East through IL on I-64: ![]() The 'Burb with a friend's '69 Beetle: ![]() At the Summersville, KY, drive-in to see Iron Man 3. Heck yea, you can't go wrong with Leppard blasting while you're cruising. Sweet pics.
