Talking It's taken me nearly five years...

And for the first time, I ran the '70 out of gas. :P

A very, very, very nice man gave me a lift to the closest open gas station. All is well. Only took forever for it to start sucking fuel again instead of air...

Is your gas guage/in-tank float level not working? I have that problem on my '71 Jimmy and I just keep a log and try to fill up before I go over 200 miles. It's primative, but I'm too busy to drop the tank right now and change out the float ball or level sender. Stuff's on the shelf, just no time.

has been years for me too. the last time was on my harley. i left sturgis heading home and didnt fill up. i had just filled up last night...but i forgot that i had rode a few laps down town after that!

about 20 miles out from the next town i had to put it on reserve.. didnt think id make it.. i did, but when i fill the tank i put in 5.2 gallons... thats all the tank can hold...lol.

when you started your truck.. did you dump any down the carb? if you can hit the hole that runs into the float bowl, you will save your battry and starter!

Nah, my gas gauge works fine...I just left it on Empty for too long!!!

And no, Long, I wish...with 30,000mi, that'd put me at over 1000MPG...

Thanks for the tip, MTDave...will have to remember that next time (if there is one!), I gave my starter/solenoid/battery one heck of a workout. (That poor battery, I've been mean to it lately...ran it down with my lights on the other day...still cranks hard after five years )
