Suspension Swap

I have a 67 Short Step my daughter has named Sassy. She came with 6 lug drums (the Truck not the daughter). I just purchased a 71 Short Fleet with 5 lug, disk, sway bar, and power steering.

My plan is to swap the 71's suspension over to Sassy. Sassy has the indented frame for the power steering. Both vehicles trailing arm rear suspension.

This seems like a no brainer to me but is there anything I do not know or things to look out for?

Thanks
Dave

I guess that I would look at swapping frames. It might be easier and cleaner. It would also make power steering easier to install.

If you are doing a complete frame off resto, swapping the frames would probably be the best way to go..... for a driver, you can swap the suspension pcs in pretty easily. the rear diff will be a direct swap , but will be approx 1 1/2" wider(3/4 per side). at the front, you need to swap the lower a arms(due to steer stop issues), then use the 71 ball joints& all the steering linkage & the spindles/brakes will bolt on. The only thing that should be different is a couple brackets for brake hoses(an easy weld on fix). Good luck, crazyL
