rear tire issues

Hi i have a 63 c10 with what i think are 73-87 4x4 rims with 275/60/15's and they fit under truck nice until i lowered the truck, there is no way that this truck can move because the tire is so close to the step side fender. I need to measure the front spacing of the rim. has anybody else had this issue? is there a difference of offset from a 1963 rim to the 4x4 rim? thanks

Re: rear tire issues

the 73-87 rims were made for disc brake and the 63 rims were made for drum brakes. There are differences in the offset to clear the caliper.

How close is to close...? When you lowered it did you use an adjustable tracking bar to center your rear axle in the fenders..? If you have a half inch your good...!

And a newer 73-87 4X4 axles are wider than the '63, I believe, also.

Re: rear tire issues

Those 4x4 rims wouldn't clear on my step side fender lowered either, the spacing was too far out. If I remember correctly they were right at 4" back space, I went with a 4 1/2" back space rim and they fit like a glove. Those rims seem to be fine on a fleet side though.

Re: rear tire issues

They work on my stepside that is factory stance w/235/75r15's. Lowered and wider tire seems to be the issue.

That's what he said, they interfere when he lowered his truck.

I installed one of these in my truck. It seemed when I lowered my truck, it shifted to one side, then I adjusted back to center. Im not running tires that large, but I plan to install 255/70/15's soon and they should clear fine.

I cant even get my pinky finger up in there. Yes i did use an adjustable panhard bar from cpp. i used all cpp parts from shocks, to shock relocaters to the springs.

There are quite a few different wheel offsets available from different types of pickups. Look for wheels that came from a 2wd pickup they do not have as much offset, if you get some from a van they are even narrower.....but then the question of lug pattern comes into play. To use the narrow wheels with differing offsets they are 5 lug, you might try spacers to space the wheels out by 1" if there is any room on the outside of the fender well. Kieth
