Windshield trim and gasket question
I've came across '65 stainless windshield trim and wanting to install it on my 66. My truck has a lmc gasket that has the black or shiny centers for normal or deluxe. Wondering if that strip could be removed and this trim installed in there. It has a ledge that sticks into the 65 gasket. Didn't know if this would work or not. Need to go pick it up and take a closer look. just thought I would ask. Thanks for any help.

Re: Windshield trim and gasket question
I think you're going to have to check the LMC part number to determine if your gasket can take the trim. I suspect the one for the trim is different (at least all the ones I have checked out are). Since the windshield must come out to install the trim, you may as well get the right gasket.

Re: Windshield trim and gasket question
Ok, so the windshield will have to come out? Didn't know if it did or not. The gasket came with two center "strips", one black and one plastic chrome, both fit in the rubber gasket. I had the black strip put in. But I like the look of the stainless trim.

Re: Windshield trim and gasket question
In order to install the trim, the windshield does have to come out. The trim and glass get installed in the gasket and get installed as one unit. You cannot use a standard gasket w/the deluxe trim. The deluxe gasket has a relief for the trim to install into. Normally, only the rear window gasket has the lock strip (black or chrome). I have never seen a 60-66 front windshield gasket w/the lock strip.

Re: Windshield trim and gasket question
My mistake, I looked at the gasket today. I was thinking of the knee knocker cab gasket that is on the shelf that I never sent back. It has the strip like the back glass. Guess I'll call the glass guys when the disc brake project is finished. Sorry for the silly thread lol.

Re: Windshield trim and gasket question
No problem at all. That's what we are all here for. There was a really great thread here by two members on the deluxe windshield install. Take a few minutes to look them up and read threw them. It will help a lot. Both were for the 60-63 windshields, but im told the 64-66 is the same process and easy due to the flatter glass.
