Why longer track bar?
I just lowered my '71 yesterday, 3" front and 4" rear. I ordered a kit from CPP that included an adjustable track bar, which I liked until I went to install it. This new adjustable track bar is 2" longer than my factory one, and with the 4" rear drop I need a track bar that is 1/2"-1" shorter. Why would anyone ever even make a longer track bar if it needs to be shorter with a drop?

Did it come with a relocating bracket. They had different lengths for bagged trucks. I think they connect at a different location from stock to avoid interference. I have one that is stock length that is adjustable. Fit the stock locations. Maybe you have a different one.

I installed a ccp kit with the bar you mentioned. Mine fit fine. It was screwed all the way in on both ends. It has left hand threads on one end so it can be adjusted on the truck without having to disconnect one end? Was the cpp bar adjustable and unscrewed all the way out when you got it? Not sure whether mine ended up shorter or longer after the install as i just loosely put the frame end on and adjusted the length til it would go on the rear axle stud.

Mine did not come with a relocator bracket for the bar, only relocators for shocks

You do realize that the adjustability is there to center the axle under the truck? It may not just sit there naturally when disconnected, so you may have to push or pull it one way or the other.

There are two different adjustable track bars.
One connects at the stock location. The other is longer and connects to a new bracket installed on the passenger side trailing arm.

How tight should you do up the bolts on either end. My mechanic put mine in and I'm pretty sure he used an impact because I have a feeling it's binding up. I have the cpp deluxe track bar with relocating bracket on trailing arm. There were no instructions but I assume it should just be tightened with a socket wrench and not an impact to like 300ftlbs. Haha.

a longer track bar cause less side to side movement when using adjustable ride height feature like airbags
