Saved another K20 from probably being scrapped

The good: Western truck with nice frame/chassis with just light surface rust, no scale whatsoever. Clean title. I will likely find a body donor and rebuild this in the future. Would be interested in a good white/ochre 2wd body donor if anyone sees a janer lwb truck like that for sale. As you can see, the body has issues on this one. Too bad since the cab supports aren't rusted out. It does have visor area rust inside the cab- go figure. I wonder if the block is still good, it has sat outside a long time with no hood or valve covers! dipstick naturally shows water down there Anyways, enjoy the pics.

More pics

1st K20 I've seen without lockouts! I wonder why studs were used on hub plates instead of bolts?

I would love to find a good k20 frame to swap my c20 on to. I'm only about an hour south of you, let me know if you find one you want to part with!

I will keep an eye out for you. There was one on craigslist near Lesueur- may still be for sale?

Re: Saved another K20 from probably being scrapped

if its ful time 4x4 does it need lockouts? I seem to remember my 70something blazer with full time 4x didnt have them either. At least I dont remember them.

Jeremy, i should at least stop by and see how that one turned out. Tempted on the bed!

Jointtech, the lockouts aren't needed on any 67-72s since none were fulltime 4x4, even without lockouts. They all had a shifter in the cab.

Re: Saved another K20 from probably being scrapped

Jud,

Nice find! I'm looking for a 71-72 K frame for the spring hangers and crossmembers to convert my Longhorn to a 4x4. Since you seem to have such good luck finding K20's around here please keep me in mind next time you find one!

Re: Saved another K20 from probably being scrapped

A couple oddities with this truck that I can't figure out as follows:

1) The glovebox door has a warn locking hub decal- that was likely a dealer installation? There clearly aren't lockouts on this one. Also still wondering why studs were used and not bolts since bolts were used on lockouts.

2) the 350 emblem is only on the passenger side. Anyone seen this before? Assuming the fenders are original since they both even have the SPID indicated paint stripe.

Save the upper radiator tube. Those seem to be somewhat rare

Re: Saved another K20 from probably being scrapped

As far as the 350 emblem being on one side, i think the driver fender was replaced early in life. In one of your pics the paint stripe seems darker on that panel.
As far as the lockouts, i don't recall seeing this vintage without them?
