1966 327 ?

Looking at buying a 327 motor and the owner says the block has

TO4I2HC or at least that is what it appears to be to him.

There is also another number on the motor that is 3858180

I have googled small block number lookups but have not been able to find what I am looking for.

He says its a 1966 327

Does that sound right?

64-67 327 is correct, are those other numbers stamped on the block deck, on the right side? If so, then those can be decoded futher to determine what it came from. i dont know where find that info tho.

I am not exactly sure. Maybe someone with more experience with these can determine where the numbers are from these two pictures. These are the best I have that he supplied.

Re: 1966 327 ?

According to the book "Chevrolet by the Numbers" HC is a 327 250 HP 4 barrel engine powerglide from a 1965 or 1966 Impala, it looks like 66 might have been 275 HP. The "180" casting was used in 1965 and 1966 Chevrolet models, the block is dated on the right hand rear side by the bellhousing area

Re: 1966 327 ?

I should note that it covers most all casting numbers for Chevrolet cars but little to no information on truck suffix codes or casting numbers unless it was the same as passenger cars.

Thanks for the link. It just so happens that I still have some left over money from an Amazon Card.
