Re: SBC guys
It's just a matter of cubic dollars.
Street 'legal' but compression dictates c-12 fuel,, At $11.50 a gallon and about 4 miles to the gallon (unless I stick my foot in it) It doesn't see much daily driving. Truck 3550 with steamroller tires, 434 SBC n/a 10.6's @ 118 in street trim, (mufflers and DOT's) in 3500-4000' air No street time at all.. 2680 pound Nova, n/a 434, single carb, 9.1's @ 148 in 1500' air. (800HP cost a litle more to buld than the 660HP, by ohhh about $10k) There is a point where going fast with a small block is purely ego driven. Just proving that you 'can',,, not that it's a smart choice. Same investiment in a pigblock would be in the mid 8's or quicker.

Re: SBC guys
I'm running a 360ci SBC 11.1comp forged bottom, ported sportsman 2 heads, .630/.630 solid roller & 200 shot of juice. Haven't had a chance to run at the track yet. Because first test hit killed tranny. I will post time when I get to the track this spring. Hoping for low 11s.

Re: SBC guys
My old Gen 3 347ci motor went 11.4x with an OD trans at 3525lbs. You could drive it anywhere any time on 91. With a small 100hp hit from the 60' it went 10.7x.. This was with a converter that was about 1,000 rpm too tight. Probably would have ran 11.2x NA and 10.3x on bottle spraying out of the hole.
Fast forward to the new motor, power glide and back half.. Truck now weighs 3300lbs with me in it, is a 418" Gen 4 motor and has been the numbers in my sig. Again, too tight of a converter, needs to be about 1,200 rpm looser for motor and guessing 600rpm looser for bottle. Haven't been able to make a good bottle pass yet, but hope to go deep 9's before I change the piston and build the twin turbo set up.

Re: SBC guys
Are you going to run 1/8 or 1/4 or both?
What rpm do you spin it to? What tire do you run? What mph do uou think it will have with the bortle? (100 hit generally equals about 8-10mph in the 1/4)

Re: SBC guys
Like to be able to do 1/4 but all that's around here is 1/8th debating 4.11s too
6,000rpm 29x10.5 mt slicks dropped 4" stock 2 leafs with traction bars Not sure about 1/4 mph Removing sway bar help? I've read something about that Had 1.9-2.0 60' leaving at idle and rolling into it. Spun and hopped when I stalled it Tci 3500 stall thinking about dropping it to 2700 when I get trans re done |
