Re: Millermatic 180 ?
I've had mine for about 10 years. Just make sure you get the gas for it. It's a great welder. Chris

Miller makes great products. You really can't go wrong with the 180 or any of their welders for that matter

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
Its an excellent welder. It will cover anything on a vehicle that needs welded other than cast iron.

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
from what i have seen and done over the years most welders weld and once you prectise enough with any one you can do a decent job
but if you outgrow your welder and want to get a replacement if you have a miller it will sell quicker and for more money than most any other brands

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
I too have had mine about a decade, then bought a plasma cutter a tad later and built the cart they're sitting on (but that's a whole 'nother thread) This duo is certainly one of those "how did I get anything done before I bought it" tools. Certainly took a deep breath before handing over the cash on 'em, but I don't regret it. |

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
I bought a 211 autoset and couldn't be happier.I actually got it thru the LWS for the same price as online. And since I got it thru them, they sold me the bottle and first fill at a deep discount. It's good to have that local contact for consumables in a pinch though they can be ordered online for less usually.
BTW It's dual voltage.Use one plug for 110 and just swap plug for 220,it's a connector that fits either plug so it's a piece of cake to swap voltages. The lower volts is somewhat limited.

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
Miller is having a great discount right now. Their 180 is going decently cheap. Miller is one of the BEST manufacturers you can get. I personally am ready for a welder upgrade and am getting the 211; has the mvp (multi volt plug) so you can run 120 or 220.

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
I have the Miller 211. I love it. The dual voltage inputs are really nice to do small stuff and sheetmetal when you don't have access to 220v.
The other perk is a 211 is spool gun ready, meaning you can buy a spool gun for a couple hundred bucks, switch the gas to pure argon and weld aluminum! |

Re: Millermatic 180 ?
Here is a writeup i did on welding stuff with some somewhat extensive 211 stuff included but i haven't finished i believe the 211 is really underrated because i was melting through 3/8 and it wasn't maxed im eventually gonna get some 1/2-5/8 weld it out and bend test it and see what happens
