Does the transfer case dictate what shifter it has?
The reason I ask is that both my 84 K30's have a different shifter than my 85 K10 or most any other truck I have seen. Do the 205's get a different style verse the 203 and 208's. First two pics are K30's (sorry for it being blurry), the third is of a 85 blazer (not mine). This is how I usually see them. The second pic one of the K30's is full of junk. Don't mind it.
The 203 & 208 shifters seem to lean forward alot more than the 205's. Am I right on this. The 205's are something of their own.

205 shifters are just a simple lever (or two).

Re: Does the transfer case dictate what shifter it has?
You are correct. 208 got a bezel and has a zig-zag shift pattern, high range forward, low range rear. 203 & 205 have a bezel and boot, shift straight and are low range forward high range rear.
I *think* 1979 = last year for 203, I know 1981 first year for 208, 205 available 'til '91 in V3500. NP203 pattern: NP205 pattern:
