What color is this?

Hey guys i picked up a really nice cab on craigslist, and was told it was Hugger
Orange. It seems too red to be Hugger Orange, its off a 71 GMC i dont have a spid or color code of any kind it came as a bare cab. Now my Issue is Im trying
to color match my doors for the Interior and i had a Can of 1971 Hugger Orange spray paint made but its not even close. as you can see in my glove
box pictures.

Re: What color is this?

dash looks like 514 red, but the gb door looks like 518 Hugger Orange. Any SPID inside the gb door? Not sure it would be accurate since the gb is the one thing that doesn't go with the rest though..

Re: What color is this?

The Glove box is painted by me with a very expensive can of Hugger Orange spray paint Lol. The SPID is for my 69 Chevy, so its obsolete.

Re: What color is this?

I'm gonna guess 514 - red.
Mine is 514 and we just call it orange. The sun does marvelous things and turning colors is one of them. I originally thought my SPID was wrong because everybody looks at it and says its orange (except where the factory primer shows through).

Re: What color is this?

Yeah, they were a bit color blind in those years for some reason. LSD?

They call it red but it looks like orange. The 69's had a "red" interior that is maroon! Wouldn't you know it, my wrecker is this 514 red with a red interior. LOL (translation: it's orange with a maroon interior!)

Re: What color is this?

Just a small bit of trivia - in 1969, Pontiac Carousel Red and Chevy Hugger Orange were actually the same paint code, 72.

Re: What color is this?

Yup, red. That doesn't even look like my Hugger Orange truck.

Off topic, I LOVE this quote-

"On the internet Men are Men, Women are Men, and little Girls are FBI Agents"

I vote for parental supervision when kids are surfing the net.
