New '68 GMC stepside worth rebuilding?

My father in law got this '68 GMC for me a couple months ago, but he has it at his place and he won't let me see it until he gets the two longbed parts trucks that he found to go with it. My wife was up there and snapped some pictures for me. What do you guys think? It looks kinda rough so I'm not sure how much work it's gonna take. I can see at least cab corners, rockers, probably floors. The front end damage is a little scary as well. You think it's worth rebuilding?

It depends on what you want to end up with. it looks like a couple of different fenders and a bumper would straighten up the front clip pretty good. I would do that, get it running, check the brakes and other safety stuff and drive it. I wouldn't worry about the rockers and corners until I got it mechanically sound. That way even if the cab supports and other rust problems make the cab unusable you have a good foundation for a cab swap. Since you don't know what he's getting for parts trucks you won't have any idea what you will need until everything is there and you can look them over good.

Just my 2¢ (and 10 years of truck experience) worth.

I'd just throw a hood on, make sure it's dependable and drive it every day. You may need to whisk off the seat too.

It's a shame it doesn't have a hood, and that the fenders will need to be replaced. Where it's got a nice patina, you could have run it that way (which is cool, and saves money and hassle with not having to paint it), but where you'll need replacement panels and a hood, you'll have no choice but to paint it eventually

It's a cool truck though, but make no mistake about it. There's a lot of work ahead there

Very easy to find parts for and make it a good daily driver. I would love to have one like it for my project.
