Floorpan Replacement

When I pulled back the carpet from my new ride (76 Sierra Classic) I had an ugly surprise - yes a nice view of my garage floor! So I need to replace the floorpans but I don't know where to start. Some of my questions are...
-- should I cut out the entire floor or just the bad spots?
-- who makes the best replacements?
-- what kind of welder do I need for these sheetmetal repairs?
-- any other tips on what to do and what NOT to do?
Any help from those that have been through this is really appreciated!!!

Re: Floorpan Replacement

let me know i have some ate up spots on my rocker panel and about 2" inboard on the driver side much less on the driver's side, i was either going to scab some new sheetmetal in there or i found a kit for $90 that is both rockers and both floor pans.

Re: Floorpan Replacement

Just cut out the bad about an inch or 2 past all the weak metal (rust extends much farther then the holes) Then only patch those areas. Aftermarket patches don't fit the best so it's better to only use what you need. Welder get a MIG welder not flux core MIG like with a regulator so you can hook up a bottle of gas. You can get a flux core/mig welder but make sure you can hook up a bottle. Hope this helps

Re: Floorpan Replacement

I agree with the cut and patch, its quicker and to be straight its the floor. U can cover it with carpet so it don't have to be prity and paint hides a lot.
