Hard Top Rebuild threads...
Ok so this last winter I picked up a hardtop for my blazer... I paid a $150 bucks for it, but it needs work. I have a few issues that need address.
The good: All glass and hatch work awesome... I mean really good. The bad: It has sat in the sun and baked. It has the crack at the upper window location, and all the seams are showing cracks. I am wanting to do it right. Are there any good repair threads? When I search all I get are for sale threads. I am tempted to take it into a shop and have the work done. What are your thoughts? The cracking is like the ones posted in this thread. Particularly the last photo has me the most concerned... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=456696

Not sure about threads off the top if my head but you will need to use smc resin I believe. The regular fiberglass resin will not work or last long.

You could start here. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=438402
I'm starting to search and save information on the same thing for when I get to my top. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Hard Top Rebuild threads...
In the above link I didn't go into alot of detail on the top itself, but I believe that the SMC may be what the top would have been repaired with originally if damaged. I used a standard body filler (Rage) on cracks and seams with one small failure to date. To do all over again I would use a short strand fiberglass filler on all of the same areas and I believe it would hold up fine. Its almost three years now and I'm still pleased, good luck
