how much should i ask for my truck?

i'm going to college in two months and need something to get me there (30 miles) with a/c and quiet exhaust, hahah. i'm looking at s10's, even though they are fugly. the 71 has to get sold. should I finish priming it? should i paint it? should i sell it like it is with a box of parts? it looks like it does in the avatar except it has the back of the cab painted white and the cab primed. is anyone interested? i dont have enough time to type all the specs right now, but I will later. i'll probably end up painting it before i sell it, as much as i dont want to. what do yall think i could get for it for it now? i'm ready to ge rid of it as soon as possible. i have all the parts that are missing. thanks, sean

The fact that it is in primer will drop down the value quite a bit. A good running, straight truck in primer will proably bring 2-3 thousand, depending on how nice the interior is, how good the body work is, ect. Selling it as a box of parts won't bring much either. If it were mine, i would put it toghether, and give it a decent coat of paint before i sold it. Then, you can get 4 thousand or more out of it, depending on how good of a job you do. Beware, you may find it impossible to part with the truck after you put it togheter and paint it, and see how good it looks

a vehicle is only worth what "someone else" is willing to pay for it

I would definitely vote for paint, Even if you have to get a cheaper job done, it will boost the value a lot.

I personally would be more inclined to spend more cash on a truck that was in its original surface rust and faded paint then something covered in new paint. I just feel like I can see what I need to start looking for parts wise. Something covered in paint kinda leaves you to wonder what kind of bodywork has been done.

I agree with Warbones. I would think that most of us who are interested in these pickups know what the problem areas are and would want to see them. If you get a pigeon who doesn't know much -- ? I would not do that to someone however.
