Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

I was looking throught the local craigslist, and there is the 65 Chevy from American Restoration listed.

At $48k asking price, he might be a bit high. Does being on national TV make a truck worth 4 to 5 times more than it is otherwise worth?

Hmmm... Maybe a typo on the price?

And it comes equiped with "a 300 small block motor".

Maybe he put a Buick motor in there. I can't think of any other 300 cid engines.

Re: Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

Ford had an inline 6 that was 300 cid and Buick had a 300 small block (4.9L) was 210hp and used from 64-67 i believe. Its a nice truck, but definitely not a $48,000 truck in my opinion. In our area, he'd be lucky to get $6,000 - $10,000 for the way its set up currently. The restoration is also a few years old by now and I believe its a daily driver, so I wouldn't expect it to look like it was just restored.

at that price and for being a full restoration, I would expect more pictures and detail shots. There is not even a picture of the engine bay....

I don't see how a guy can say it is restored if its not stock. I would never say my suburban is restored, it has been redone as a custom but not restored. Restored is a stock rebuild, simple as that.

I like to refer to my truck as a resto-mod (in progress).

X2 ! I HATE to see "restored" trucks that have nothing original but the body.

"....or will trade for a 2011 or newer truck..."

That's MAYBE a $4800 truck- if you want to drive around looking like a Coke machine

That's pretty much exactly what I thought.

Re: Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

Although with what I see the owner quote for restorations on tv....maybe he charged $48,000 to do the job................ Im inclined to think that he hit the #4 button twice and is asking $8000 on the truck. I say this because he said serious buyers only.

Re: Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

OK, curiosity is a horrible thing.
I called the guy- first off- must be Rick's sone from the show that answered- kid didn't no sh** for apple butter about it other than "...it's totally rebuilt..."

Here's what I got:

350 engine(he thinks-had to ask a guy in the shop)
Automatic trans but no idea what kind
gas tank under bed
RESTORED
it's red
NO power steering
NO disc brakes(not sure he'd know if it did)
NO A/C
Totally stock
"...It was on a TV show, so it'll sell, just a matter of time..."
Will take less- but no less than $45000
Says he has $39K in it with shop labor and parts.(man would I love to sell him a truck!)

So, no more guess work --I went straight to the source.
Good news is- I think mine just went up in value and it has PS, PDB and A/C plus fuel injected- gotta be worth $60K....right?? It's restored, too, LOL!

Re: Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

It's that kid Brentley or what his name is. For what the guy charges to "restore" all the stuff on that show $48000 sounds about right. That truck is worth maybe 8k due to it being a long bed non power steering no disc brakes no a/c. Judging by some of the decisions the owner of that shop has made, this is another on the list of things that will go sideways.

Re: Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

What wont surprise me is some smuck with to much money will buy it at a way over blown price just because it was on t.v. So stupid. The only silver lining I see here is when it does sell the value of all our trucks just went up about 100%.

so since the tank is under the bed, do you lift this piece of wood in the center to fill the tank? ..

maybe he needs to take it to Barrett Jackon?

The trucks from Fast Five sold for less than that. Stupid is what stupid does! That picture is in front of the shop. Maybe Count Customs will "score" another build. ;p

48K......Yikes. Another Reality TV actor who thinks that his status makes everything he touches worth 10 times more than it really is. The sad part is, there will be some lunkhead who'll pay the asking price.

By hey, if you can get a big number for what you're selling, I say go for it.

Re: Brettly's 65 from American Restoration for sale

so if this trucks is worth 48,000 that means my truck with power steering disc brakes and overdrive tranny, but no paint and only plywood bed must be worth at least 25,000. I am putting it on craigslist tomorrow. anybody interested. I will make a forum deal for only 24,900. LMAO.

Wow, beautiful example of a restoration! Although if as nice as they say before the resto, it would've been hard for me to touch it.

And no way Brettly's truck is worth $48k. That's just ridiculous. Can't blame him for trying though. As some mentioned though, there's probably a dummy out there that'll fork it over.
