air compressors

what do you guys use? i'm in the market for one and am strongly considering one a guy has used. its a campbell hausfeld. model number is vt6312. 7HP 80 gallon. he's asking 500 bucks for it. sound like a good deal? i'm just goign to be using it to work on vehicles and stuff like that. won't be beating on it constantly. what do you guys think?

Re: air compressors

I have a 20 gallon Campbell Hausfeld that's over 25 years old and still works fine. I just stepped up to a 60 gallon Speedaire that I got a great deal on. Only did it because of the size difference.

Re: air compressors

That's a lot of compressor for the money IF it works and of course you have to make sure it doesn't run on 3 phase 220v....unless you have that!

I had a 20 gal. oil less compressor for years til it's noisy ass gave out. I bought a used Hatbor Freight 60 gallon for $265 off Craigslist to replace it and felt I did ok. I've got a small Senco compressor for filling tires and running a nail gun

Re: air compressors

I have a 1972 Emglo 5hp two stage. Bought it for 150 bucks in 1995. It still runs like a champ.
