Sway bar
I have a 71 Chevy C10 2wd and LWB with no sway bar, I would like to add one. Anyways I went to a junkyard and the guy said that the 73 and up frames are wider and the sway wouldnt fit, I thought I read on here somewhere that they would fit. I cant use the search right now its down. I found a 2wd 73 chevy with a full sway bar on guy said I could take it off for $20. Is it worth my time how hard is to get to fit my truck? Also I am goin to grind the rivets off and I noticed it is connected at the lower A arm too, Is this part bolted on or how do I remove it, I only got a quick look at. He was closing up, I am goin back there tomorrow if you guys say it will fit with little ease. TIA -Jason

Yes if it's a truck it will fit 63-87 front ends, vans are wider.

It's definitely worth your time! I just got one from a junk yard for $40 and my truck handles so well now. It corners like a Vette. This is the best add on you can put on your truck, trust me. These trucks have so much roll, you feel like you're in a Jeep. Go for it. It will bolt right on. The only tough part about it is the rivets, but that's no big deal.

Mine has no sway bar...I always thought it felt liek the door handle was hitting the road as I cornered...I guess it was.

I got mine from a 1980 1 ton pickup 1 1/4" dia. and fit with no problems, the only little suprise I got was it raised the front suspension of my truck approx. 1" but it (stock suspension, no dropped spindles or ....) still looks OK. Very minor detail compared to the handling bonus you will get. Regards Doug

Got mine at a junkyard too. Its 1 1/8" thick. If my memory serves me right, I think my control arms had bolt holes for it but I had to drill bolt holes in the frame for the brackets. Its a '69 frame. Don't know why the factory did'nt put them on, the cornering improved 75%.

How hard is it to get out the stock sway bar? I have been wanting one for quite some time now, but the only local yard that pulls stuff out for you dosen't deal with anything older than '89....
I could unbolt one no problem, but what is the easiest way to remove the rivits? I dunno how i could take my grinder and an extension cord out into the yard, lol.

Cordless drill, an extra bettery, real good drill buts (don't know the size off the top of my head), and a hammer and chissel.

i had the nice guys at the junkyard torch the rivets out for me ... saved me lot s of time and effort........ although its funny every truck i wanna take parts from is setting in a huge mud puddle.... i dont mind getting dirt ...hell thats have the fun

So where do you get the brackets for a sway bar if your slammed? And has anybody else noticed there truck going up too?
