Diesel equipment? Can I toss it?

OK Chevy geniuses ... I have this black box w/ computer board inside hanging by about eight to ten wires under my dash. The box is open at one end. (see pic #1.) The wires go out the firewall and most of them end nowhere. (They are either disconnected, cut or go to picture #2.) One goes to starter? and one goes to distributer. Half of the cut wires are hot in the ON position. Is it from the old diesel system? Can I remove it along with the wires?
What are those two vacuum looking things in pic. #2? Ya like my wiring mess? This truck is a fire hazard...still. I have already fixed a lot of the splices and open ended wires under the dash too. My interior light was powered by open-spliced telephone wire.

Makes sense that they may be electric vac. somethings for brakes. My truck was probably used to haul stuff, being an ex-diesel; cause I'm pretty sure my truck was specially ordered. I don't know too many swb stepside 1/2 ton diesels out there. Come to think of it, this is the only one I've ever heard of.

csapamplin@yahoo.com Nice truck by the way. I love mud runners. I used to take my '94 Ram thru the ex-family field in Canton, TX.

cool... BTW, do you trailer the truck to mud pits? If not, how bad does that Detroit up front hop the wheels in a turn? Ever thought of an Air Locker up front?
I gotta admit, I'm a muddin' freak! Summertime Blues is one of my all time favorite videos. You got any pictures of your truck in some goo?

The truck is a daily driver although it has been gone for last couple of months due to a mixup between the car lot and a finance company. I should have it back monday afternoon. It doesnt hop at all because I keep the hubs unlocked while driving, I only lock them when I go muddin. Being that it is a ex military truck and has 1&1/4 ton suspension with the axles beefed up, I wouldnt change anything. This thing is VERY tough!! I have bounced the front end off the ground 2 ft. a couple of times and she never missed a lick. I think I have a pic or 2 on my web page in my profile

I had a Dana 60 front axle from an old Air Force 11/4 ton truck just like yours. I worked at a bombing range for the Navy in the Ocala National Forest in FL. It finally died, so they were going to use the truck as a target. Wouldn't let me have the truck, but I got the front axle one night after work. It was my first time driving a front end loader... we'll leave it at that.:p I was forced to leave that axle when we moved to AL. I beat myself up over that one, cause the owners of the house wouldn't of had a clue and probably had it hauled to a junkyard.
