72 cheyenne super swb
Im looking at a 72 cheyenne super swb 402 big block ac tach truck. It is 2 tone red and white. restoration done in 2003 but looks very nice. Sits on stock rally wheels. All chrome looks new. Black houndstooth seat, black carpet, interior looks immaculate. Sport bumpers and mirrors. Looks to be a very nice truck overall. Hes asking 18000 and says serious offers only. I guess whats it safely worth. Thanks

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
If it was done with quality parts with good paint and no rust, (and a true big block short bed...) it's worth at least 18K. serious offers probably mean you can get it for 15-16
Get some more pictures (closeups) and details and we're all happy to put our 2 cents in

Look for a cut down long bed.
There are tons of them for sale. Nothing wrong with that,... Just something to look for. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
I absolutely will. The only way id pay this is for a true shortbed. There isnt anything wrong with a shortened one but the value wont be there for sure. Il call and ask for a spid pic tomorrow.

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
He says he is absolutely sure its legit. He will be sending me a picture of the spid as soon as he gets home. He is also willing to negotiate. If its what it should be what is a realistic number on the truck. Would it be worth up to 20000?

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
Need a lot more/better pictures. Also, a spid can be reproduced to look like an original so that's not necessarily the foolproof way to make sure it's original...any other documentation would be great (build sheet) Also, post the weights on the vin tag on the cab inside the door jamb...that can let you know if it was a factory big block truck. I guess I'm confused, but why would you even go 20 if he said 18 of serious offers?

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
Awesome info on the weights idea. He says he has the original window sheet from new too. Im just checking on an actual value. I can get the truck for a good amount less than the 18 but wondering if its worth up to 20000 or not. From what i see i feel it should be but im not an expert yet. He will be sending more pics of the truck as well. Thanks.

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
How's the undercarriage? Have you put a magnet everywhere to check for extra bondo?

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
5400 is the correct weight for a factory big block. Could have been cut down or swapped from a long bed to short with a frame or cut down...but that only matters if it matters to you.

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
He sent a pic of the spid and it looks age appropriate but i guess you never know. I will be checking for bondo and the frame, its a couple states away. Just need to get to the bank but no time with my hours at work yet.

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
He sent a ton of pics to me and the thing looks spotless engine compartment wood bed that looks like new. underside looks nice and black yet. The bad. Has some small chips on the front of the hood. Also the worst a spot probably the size of your thumb print of bubbles on the bottom of the door a half inch or so from the very bottom.

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
Bubbles in the paint can be nothing but typical rust....but they can also be a telltale sign they simply filled over rust before paint. I would definitely bring a magnet to check the cab corners, rockers, fenders, over the wheel arches, etc. Look on the inside wherever you can to see if there is filler there also. See project Jezebel that looked as nice as this truck in pictures but was rusty all over. Also, chips could just mean typical use but can also be from poor paint prep as well....

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
It depends on how much you love the color combo, drivetrain, as well as the condition. Imo sounds high for a ten year old resto at 18. But a new truck would run just shy of 30 and lose value every day.
This one If purchased for the right price and has proper documentation should retain or increase in value. I'd offer 14 cash. And then wait and see. Not many other buyers lookin to spend that kind of money. Most people just buy new w 0% and no money down. Good luck. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 72 cheyenne super swb
The Spid says heavy duty rear springs but the pic of the undercarriage shows Coil springs...is it supposed to have leafs? Is there any way to verify that this truck came with the big block from the factory?
