Side Trim for GMC

In another post, two different tan trucks were shown with the side trim in tact. I'd never noticed before but the locations are much different. (Assuming they came from fatory and not added after the fact)

60-63 had the trim lower and terinates just after the front wheel well

64-66 has the ctrip higher and travels to the front of the truck.

Learn something new everyday. - now IF they would just re-pop it. Chevy has a close knock off, but those in the know will spot it quick.

Re: Side Trim for GMC

The 1961 GMC posted above actually has 62-66 aluminum moldings put in place of the original 60-61 only GMC stainless moldings. Posting both my 60 and 61 trucks. Previous owner said the original stainless had a few dings so he replaced it with aluminum ! Would like to ring his neck for throwing it away !!! Had to buy another truck just to get parts needed to replace it since the bed moldings are 1960and 1961 GMC only.Aluminum is 62-66.

Re: Side Trim for GMC

I see the slight differance now with the design of the arrow head area. I would think stainless or aluminum would be great, only us NUTS would know the differance

Re: Side Trim for GMC

Wow, I also learned something new. Never noticed the two different styles before, let alone being made out of different materials. Thanks for sharing.

Jake I would check with Mar-K and see what they have to say about it. They make re-pops for 64-66 that are stainless, it looks to me that maybe you could use the strips from the door back as they sure look the same just lower on the body. If the short front strips are not to far gone you may be able to reuse them, wont hurt to ask Mar-K they may be able to help you..Vernski

Re: Side Trim for GMC

Over the years it seems that we've all learned a LOT and some days we learn something new about our trucks.

If push came to trample, I think anyone who uses the current aftermarket styles, it would pass casual inspection. The fools with the slide rulers who show up at the meets are so anal retentive usually don't own a truck
