Has anybody tired removing a leaf spring to soften the ride?

There is a lot more than a blanket answer here. Why do you have a C20? Do you carry a load? Is it a coil or a leaf truck, its suprising how often people don't know? What are you running for tires? Shocks?

I have a Cheyenne 20 and it has coils. Rides better than my C10 stepside!

You must have leafs. Thought that was only a GMC thing?

Add 1400 pounds of weight in the box and she will ride like a Cadillac. I never could understand how a C10 rides so nice and a C20 will pound, your spine into the base of your scull when you cross over a crack in the road.

I wonder if that is a coil to leaf problem more than a C10 to C20. My 68 C20 with coil springs rides pretty nice, in fact I would say that is rides better than the 2004 2500HD I had.

Leafs were an option on Chevy's, and coils were an option on GMC's IIRC. My C20 has leafs, ride is ok but then I've always chalked it up to being a 3/4 ton.

My c20 has coil too, but it's stiff unless I've got a couple quads or a motorcycle in the back. Got my air ride, just scared that if I pull apart my front suspension I'll open up a can of worms.

There's an option, not sure what your build budget is, but if the removing a link don't help, you can always do air.

i just bought a 72 c20 w/leafs and it does hop a little but does not ride too bad the coil spring trucks do ride better. in the past i have oiled the ends of the leafs to help them slide somewhat easer and it helps some
by the way if you go for a ride in a four wheel drive of the same year it wont seem like such a bad ride

I did way back at #2... if you want help you need to give us some facts to work with. There are a number of ways to improve a ride but "how" depends on your ultimate use and how much you want to spend.
