Yet ANOTHER backspace question
Can't believe I can't get this into my head yet. Search results came up inconclusive.
20x8.5" rear wheel. Recommended backspace? Same as front: 5"? [Not bagged, 6" drop in rear] |

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
No.
Most 10's require a 5.5" BS. So that equals a 4" BS on a 8.5" wheel mounted on the back. (remember the front track width is wider than the rear track width). Break out a tape and verify this.

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
Sooo...if I went 8.5s all the way around, I'd have to get them in two different offsets (front and rear)?

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
Most wheels are cast so you won't have a choice of BS, cast wheels usually come one way, so which wheel are you looking at, and what is it's back space?

Or run spacers on the rear. That's why most people run 8's and 10's or 7's and 8's. It help hides the wider front track width of these trucks.

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
Gotcha. So I could go 5" BS all the way around and run a 1" spacer on the rear, correct?

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
I really don't know why I find this such a hard concept to grasp...
I found a set of 20x8.5 w/ 4.5" of BS. Will this work for me. 4.5" will pull the wheel 1.2" to the *inside* versus a wheel w/ 5" of B.S., correct? So worst case, I could run a 1/2" spacer up front. |

BS is measure on the backside of the wheel. Higher the "backspace number",... the more it will tuck under the fender. 5" backspace wheel will tuck 1/2" more than a 4.5" backspace wheel. (as long as the wheels are the same width).

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
So is 4.5 a no-go on a 5/7 drop then?

Re: Yet ANOTHER backspace question
I my opinion you need a 5.25" bs on a 8.5" wheel up front.
