Hey you all. Starting a poll here on your opinion of the best years chevy from 1960-1966. My favorite is the 66.

Re: Which were the best years?
I voted for '63, due to the earlier wrap-around windshield which is classic early-'60s/'50s styling, and the modern front suspension that is a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to work on.
Mechanical clutch linkage and "normal" master cylinder, rather than the earlier hydraulic clutch/slave cylinder and double brake/clutch master cylinder on the firewall. The 12-bolt rear axle housing is a one-year only deal, but internals interchange with later years. I personally dig the four-headlight grills; the '62 grill headlights look like a bad compromise, while the '63 grill has a modern big, single bulb and a good looking grill. -Brad

Re: Which were the best years?
Voted for 60. Thats the reason I bought the panel that I did
But I bought strictly for astetic reasons. I'm doing a lot of mods (engine, suspension, breaks and so on) so mechanical considerations were not a factor for me. Gotta love those bubble hoods and wrap-around windshields. |

Re: Which were the best years?
I like the '60. The quad headlights, wrap around windshield, most of all that unmistakeable grill that's often seen on a lot of 62-66 models! I remember being about 4 or 5 years old riding in my Grand Dad's "truck with the eye brows". It wasn't my first choice but my Father bought me a '61 when I was 15 and it kinda grew on me. I think the '62 is cool too.

Re: Which were the best years?
I like the 66 cause that is the first restoration project. You always find a better year that you like but then the one you have grows on you. I also like the 66 because it was the year were the 292 chevy 6 is cheaper to restore..... I know one thing, you can't beat a wrap around windshield though or duel headlights.

Re: Which were the best years?
I've never really understood how anyone has ever been able to choose their favorite out of the 4-5-6 trucks. They are all identical except badge placement and badge design, no?

Re: Which were the best years?
1960-1961 were identical except the badge and options. 1962 was identical except the grill change from dual to single head lamps and also the badge and the hood changed. 1963 had another grill change in style and badge change. 1964-1966 were all the same except badges and options. And it's raining here this very minute!

Re: Which were the best years?
I like my 1962 but the odd ball of the bunch. I voted '63 for the ladder bar frame vs the x frame with torsions. Still has Corvette style dash humps and wrap around windshield now available without breaking the bank green or my clear one for around $1000. I remember clipping trucks with Volare for the torsions. I like the ride but now everyone got a clip on the shelf that's easily installed. Some day I will do a stock one.

Re: Which were the best years?
63 and 66 seem to be the best years so far. I always thought a 61 was cool also. I almost had the chance to buy a 1961 shortbed fleetside apache once, but you know how it goes, you drive past it once in awhile and dream and then bam!!!!! the darn thing gets sold before you know it to someone else. Never will I let that happen again!

Re: Which were the best years?
I chose 62 and 66 because those are the two years I owned. Loved my 62 in HS but can't beat the ease of suspension, motor, etc. changes that my current 66 offers. I don't miss hitting my knees on the door frame of my 62. Miss the chevy emblem on my heater controls. Miss the big blue bubble window camper I had too.

Re: Which were the best years?
I like the eyebrows on the '61 better than the ones on the '60. I've never been in a knee-knocker cab as I've got a '66. I think I'd like to add a quad headlight grill and a '61 hood to my '66 to have the ideal combination.

Re: Which were the best years?
1966!! The brown dash breaks up all the fawn interior color, '66 deluxe door panel stripes are the best design between 4-5-6's, the seat cover is a one year only design, first (and only year in our body style) for 327's in C10's, standard reverse lights, emblems on the fender where they belong (not on the cowl box like '65s), better looking deluxe steering wheel than 64-65... and I'm just a *little* biased on this one but the best 4-5-6 color ever, "Saddle Poly" was a '66 only color

Personally it's a tie between a 66 and a 63. I like the design in both and I just can't favor one over the other.

I like my trucks as I like my women I like em all, they say variety is the spice of life. No harm in just lookin and admiring in both cases. If'n we all liked the same thing it would get kinda crowded out there..Vernski
