these import kids are on crack
Man, what are they thinkin? I can't wait till this fad passes so the cops will get off my ass. I get 2 or 3 punks a day on the way to and from work riding my ass, buzzing around me like flies. sometimes i drop it in second and lay down the law. it must be a real kick to the teeth to have their '03 V-tech, Turbo whatever smoked by a 35 year old "farm truck".

I got a lot of grins and assenting nods from the guys at work when i was explaining what "rice" was. Sick of seeing these little tiny white cars with the rubber band wheels and the great big spoiler on the back. They sound like large bumblebees! Just give'm a swat.

Fart pipes, decals, loud stereos, wings, air dams, slammed and for the most part none are for crap when it comes to power. But, a few can surprise you. The 72 Chevy isn't ready for the road yet but I regularly smoke rice with the 70 Mach.

LOL crazy longhorn.....harleys are always tearing up and down main street in my town...how fast actually are they? Wonder what one will run in the 1/4 mile?
I saw a Ford focus the other day, with a huge wing, rubber band tires, fart pipe, ect, and a huge NOS sticker on the back window. The NOS decal was like 2'x3'.....i busted up laughing. I highly doubt the hocus focus had any enigne mods...besides maybe a chip and a K&N. I was with one of my friends in his f*rd 4x4 pickup...and we tried to challange a ricer guy to race us....he wouldn't. Proably afraid the 5.0 in a 4x4 truck would eat his lunch, lol.

I luve the look on a buzzin bean can kind of punk when he is in amazement that my '72 with 38" TSLs has no problem running 100mph. They sure do howl at that speed though
Or when my friend does a Kenny Bernstein- style burnout with 38" boggers on his truck. Glad HE pays for those! |

i do hate rice also, but some of them can actually be really fast. my dad is a subaru dealer in town and subaru has a new car coming out called the "sti" its a 300hp four banger. running 0-60 in 4.46 seconds and 1/4 times around 13. i like subarus a lot but i do not care for the rest. the way they sound sucks but subarus actually sound decent because of the opposing motors.

Subarus are really pretty tough cars. You can buy an old '80s awd with 2 or 3 laps on the odo & they still will take a beating.

Quick, yes. They also handle pretty good too. But, i still think it is uglier than sin. A 4-door, with a hood scoop, huge wind, and goldish colored wheels, ick, even if they do run 13 flat. I read in a magazine that it is mostly a competition only vehicle, and the radio is optional. Kinda like those old COPO Camaros with 427's they had back in the '60's.
Oh yes, we had a '92 Subaru wagon, and that thing did take a beating! It still ran great at 160xxx miles when we traded it in. I routinley rapped it up to 6500rpm, and it never hurt that boxer motor. The speedo on the car went all the way to 140mph (!), but she only topped out at 105

STI's are very nice, for the longest time there were only avail in europe due to importing rules and regulations and emissions.
but the STI is a nice high performance car, turbo if my mind serves me correctly, comes stock with carbon fiber parts(some of them), stock brembo brakes, nice aftermarket seats (like along the lines of recaro and sparco) STI, even though it may seem ricey will get its respect on the track and we joke around that subaru's have that idle that sounds like the engine is broke, so were always like "dude, i think your engine got f'd up, cause it aint idling right" |

i still give ricers credit for putting money intoa vehicle and fixing it up, even tho the whole thing was started by a movie, im sure they could do alot worse things with their money like have a gambling addiction or be alcoholics they want to spend money on four wheels so let them do it

I have been told many times, by many members here that I should have a respect and appreciation for ricers. I just can't seem to do it. I hate em. I can't stand the image, I can't stand the cars, I can't stand the whole genre.

The one thing they are good for is laughing.
We saw a totally riced out Cavalier at 7/11 yesterday and I couldn't stop laughing. It was red with a huge aluminum wing, rims, all kinds of reflective decals and trim, non functional hoods scoops, altezzas. Just hilarious.

I love those little non-functional scoops. You know, the ABS plastic ones that attach with 3M tape....i get a kick every time i see one, lol. Then there are the huge 5" 10k RPM tach sitting on the dash....complete with a shift light on a completley stock 4 banger....more to laugh at, hehe.
I do give them a small bit of respect tough, some actually like working on and modifying their cars like we do to our trucks, but i still laugh at them every chance i get.
