1966 C10 front end swap

hello, all. newbie here posting for the first time. i just bought a 66 short bed fleetside and i want to upgrade to power front disc brakes and power steering. i'm wondering what the best way to do this would be. i know i can buy a kit for the disc brake conversion, but they are quite pricey and this is a budget build. it came with a 427 tall deck and i'd also like any good info on a good intake and carb combo for it. someone put a huge tunnel ram on it and that was a mistake. i'm thinking a dual plane intake and a 600 or 650cfm carb. i dont care about horsepower, i love the torque. thanks in advance for any info. i 'll post some pics next week after it has been delivered.

Find you a donor truck(73-85) and use all the parts from it, is the cheapest way.Put a good dual plane intake and a 750-850 carb on it .

Welcome to the forum

I agree, the aftermarket disc brake conversions can be pricey. I have always just used the complete front suspension and steering from a '73-'87 truck. Here is one of several threads on the subject.

There are many many informative threads listed in the '60-'66 FAQ index found at the top of the main page.

I don't know of any dual plane intakes for a TD BBC, just single planes. You will likely just need to use the spacers with a standard deck dual plane intake. Yes a 600-650 cfm carb will be fine. That is what those engines came with from the factory, although they were governed..

You have to look, but there are enough tall decks in racing.Brodix makes one and i'm sure there are others.

Re: 1966 C10 front end swap

thanks for all the replies. i was leaning toward the 73-87 crossmember swap as my cousin owns a local boneyard and i can pick one up quite cheaply. as far as the intake i think my engine has the spacers under the intake already. i had an edelbrock q-jet type 750 on my 350 suburban and it worked flawlessly. maybe i will go with that again. i'm sure i'll have many more questions, i'll keep ya posted. thanks again, chris

All the TD BBC intakes I have seen are single plane, which is what you would want for racing. The OP was asking about a dual plane intake. Have you seen a TD dual plane intake other than a stock one?
