Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
I can see why they only made a few of them that bed is uglier than a slop jar full of arm pits.

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
Wow, I've never laid eyes on one of those before. I didn't know they made them either. Very strange, but kind of cool.

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
I see this is your 1st post here. First of all, welcome to the board. A word of advice though if I may. Its ok to not like something, but if all you have to say is something negative about someone elses truck, just keep it to yourself. These kind of posts will get a thread locked quicker than you can imagine. It was metioned eirlier in the thread that the owner was a board member. The more time you spend on this board you will realize that this one is different than most. We all try to help each other out, and for the most part, keep the negativity to a minimum.

Re : Mexican Trucks
I guess I'm the only one who likes it then ? .
" Austerity " models always get my attention as I grew up with them on The Farms in New England . GM Do Mexico was still making these in the '73 ~ '87 " Square Body " style in the 1990's , I came very close to buying one as they come with I6 engine and stick or slushbox , your choice . The taillights are the same ones used on the 1960's vintage G Vans , recessed and fairly hard to break in rough service . As long as not rusty both of these would make good rigs .

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
Bed looks like it came off of a 60's Dodge. Definatley look better if it was channeled a little so that it was the same width as the cab.

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
Why didn't GM just put the american bed on these? Tooling up for a different bed couldn't have been cheap.

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
Just take the kind advise offered from a seasoned member. Like he said, the administrators ask that we move on if we have nothing good to say. Another one is no pissing matches. Which basically means don't keep coming back with counter comments, like you just did. The site rules/guidelines are there to read,if you didn't before you clicked "agree" when you registered. None of what you did is a big deal, but it's just not what we want to see here. No biggie, just what that kind of stuff. It is important to watch how you word your comments on any message board. It's not the same as face to face.

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
A lot of times there are local content considerations and I'm betting that is where that bed design/assembly came from. Yutivo assembled CKD Camaros and Suburbans (among others) in Manilia, Philipines for several years and they had a large percentage of locally sourced content other than the body and driveline. IIRC the whole operation folded around '69 over the government's decision to retroactively tax the Suburbans as cars vs trucks.

Re: Craigslist Ad - Anyone heard of this?
Beauties in the eye of the beholder and the designer! It may appear better to folks in another country and management in charge of selling trucks in Mexico may have felt that design would sell more, that's all GM really cared about. Just like GM cars in Canada, they took USA chassis and mixed and matched from various GM cars to make the Canadian version. So you have to ask why did they make them different?, because the folks in the other country want to feel as though it's THEIR car not USA's.
