suspension part ?

I have a '70 GMC long bed with lef springs. Atached to my frame are tow elbow shaped pieces of metal that i havent seen any where else and are wondering if anybod knows what they are and are for?

Overload pads. There would normally be some stiffer/thicker leafs that would contact those pads when a load is applied but it seems you don't have the original spring pack installed or those were an aftermarket item a PO had put on.

When I got this truck a po had tried to lower the truck by taking all the leafs but one out. I came along and got the present springs fron a salvage yard. When I did I took the parts off and painted them (and put them back on) The spid has the code 1g7010- rear suspension-leak.
