Lowering blocks
Hi Everyone,
I'm wanting to lower the rear end on my '62 C10 using lowering blocks. I've got a custom made set for the rear end, but i'm needing 2 inch longer U bolts. Where's the best place to find them, if not is there a place I can get them specially made? TIA, David

Hi. Look in your Yellow Pages phone book under Springs. Any good 4x4 shop or spring shop should be able to make them.
I have a local shop that makes them for $20.00. Ask the 4x4 owners in your area also. |

auto parts
try the local auto parts store. They usually have them to go with the Lowering/lifting blocks that they sell seperately.
I just saw them yesterday at Kragen. |

Hey chevyboy what size rims you running? I was thinking about lowering blocks too but more than 1 inch will be sticking down past the bottom of the rim which is not good .. and not legal too i think?

Try Early classics or Classic perf Products. One or the other sold longer u-bolts @ one time because that's where I got mine.
I use 1.5" blocks w/15's and haven't had any probs on my beater.

I would be interested in seeing a pic or two, I am looking at lowering my 69 about 4" and was not sure if I should go just 4" springs , since it may stick down to far with blocks.

how far can you lower your trucks with these? Are these just the clamps that you put on your springs and tighten them down? How is your ride quality after this? Do you need to switch your shocks at all? Just full of questions today

This is what a lowering block looks like
So basically your suspension stays the same and it is your axle that sits higher, but it will keep the proper angle for the driveshaft. The only thing that I am worried about is that I want to go 4 " and I don't want the bolts to stick down further than the rims.

Chevyboy1962, I have some longer U bolts for you. $10 + shipping. Mine are round on top unlike the square style shown above. They're for a coil setup. Send me your email address if you want the pic.

Hi Brad, thanks for the offer, but I already bought a set.
Here's a pic with the 2 inch lowering blocks installed. http://community.webshots.com/photo/...79603892GYyAXL It's not as low as it shows in the pic, the tire is also low on air. I also put on a set of spring compressors on the rear coils that made it another 2 inches lower. I plan on purchasing 2-3 inch lower coils for the rear, or go with air bags. Since lowered, the front + rear handles like she has sway bars on both axles. She handles pretty nice around sharp 90 degree turns, and flies over bumps in the road. Slammed in the weeds rolling on some 18's would look sweet. Who all carries 6 lug 18's, and what size tire should I run? David
