Should I drop my 87? Help me decide
After seeing many trucks on this forum lowered , I too have the bug.
Tell me if you think this would look good lowered, or leave it stock? Which wheels? Thanks Desert |

Re: Should I drop my 87? Help me decide
For a LWB truck, I would go 1/2 so the wheel fender gap is smaller. It's my preference.

not sure I understand 1/2, Do you mean half the distance from the wheel edge to the fender?

I always wanted a (heavily) dropped C10, once I got on this website I knew it had to be done!! lol (Actually I Decided I wanted bags after this website, but too costly and time consuming at this time in life. ) That truck would look great dropped, and I like the white rally idea!

Re: Should I drop my 87? Help me decide
The truck would look great with rallys on it. My opinion would be a 2/4 drop with the rally wheels. Kind of a cleaned up, stockish look. That is a nice looking truck, lowering it just a little would enhance it.

Re: Should I drop my 87? Help me decide
I initially wanted to drop mine and add bigger wheels, but I ended up leaving it at the stock height. When I see old squares, they typically fall into one of these two categories:
1. Dropped and modded 2. Rust bucket disaster in original condition that is still being worked into the ground hauling or towing gear for the job site What I rarely see is a great condition original truck. This made me appreciate the stock look even more, so I decided to forego lowering in the meantime. Your truck, especially with the hubcaps, has an awesome look to it that feels period correct, original, and straight. And it looks to be in excellent condition. I love it and would leave it as is. But if you have to go low, I'm sure it will look great!

If you want people to keep asking you "is it 4 wheel drive" then leave it stock...

That’s a sweet ride as is, I vote to leave it un-molested.

Stock and work it like a pack mule, the way they were intended.

Re: Should I drop my 87? Help me decide
If you have to ask,... you don't really want to.
If you do lower it,... do it correctly. Spare no expense. Spindles, springs, flip kit, drop shocks, and a good alignment. Replace any bad front end components. Deal with driveline misalignment. Then enjoy your truck.

Nice looking truck. LWB's look great with a drop, in my biased opinion.

Re: Should I drop my 87? Help me decide
To be honest man I would leave it just like it is. I have seen your truck many times on the thread and I've always said "Man that is a nice truck!"
Your truck actually still looks like a truck! Can still be used as a truck! Still has that clean classic look as well which most people don't have. Dropped/Slammed trucks are a dime a dozen! Classic looking trucks like yours are hard to find! The wheels you have on it now make that classic look happen! I vote to leave it just like it is! However, its your truck! Do what you like!
