Show me your hood props
The original hood hinge springs ('53 AD truck) sagged and made the hood a head knocker and the new ones are so strong they push the back of the hood up off the cowl. I need some hood prop ideas other than a broom handle.

I used an old broomstick when I didn't have the springs hooked up but the hood always lifted up in back and never seemed to fit right without the springs.

I've done the hood adjustment using my repro assembly manual and everything looks great untill I hook up the springs. The center of the hood lays lightly on the rubber seal but the ends are pushed up and flutter at hiway speeds.

I am going to use a piece of clear polished anodized aluminum tubing to hold it up

knock out the prop rod and it will be a decapitator
 why not fix the problem rather than booger it up?

Had this problem with both my 55 Ponch and 55 GMC even with new springs. My solution was to set the hood to the position I like and measure the length of the springs then cut a piece of coat hanger wire slightly longer than this measurement, and bend hooks in the end. Now raise the hood slightly higher and slip each end over the spring. One will hold the hood up but, one on each spring is safer when working under there. You can still close the hood and not damage anything if you forget they are there, the ends will straighten out under tension. I use a small rare earth magnet to secure them out of sight under the hood when not in use. ............... Works for me
