New Bench Seat

Any ideas on where to get one.
My wife has decided she isnt into "old dirty butt".
I told her I'd go get another one from the junkyard but it would just be newer dirty butt... lol

Maybe better just having one recovered and padded? I think that would satisfy her.

I bought one at local salvage yard and bought a hounds tooth cover for it. All in I have about 200 in it.

I've had my truck seat recovered a couple of times by a pro auto reupholsterer. Not cheap, but professional results. Looks like new.

Your bench isn't the problem. Your seat cover and most likely your foam are. Foam is really expensive for some reason. If your foam is still good, but just dirty, take it out and bat it to get the dust out. Then have your seat reupholstered with vinyl. You can do it yourself, or you can pay someone. I did my own, and I'm pleased with how it turned out, and I saved some money

I paid a couple hundred, maybe 7 years ago. I furnished my own vinyl, and the guy had done the same seat for me years before.
You will have to call around locally. Some are outrageous and some are reasonable.
If you have a stock seat a pre-made seat cover may work out better. I have a bench-bottom/bucket back electric seat out of a '69 T-Bird, so I can only go custom.

I want to re-do my 1971 Bench Seat. Foam is super expensive($250-400). There is a really good walk-through how to patch/repair your foam(Bollybib). As far as seat covers, regular all vinyl seems like $150ish. If you do a Vinyl/Houndstooth it's $300+. Unless someone has a good hookup! =).

I visited a couple shops and they wanted to charge me $400-450(Just Labor) to recover my seat. With a little elbow grease I think you could just cover it yourself.

For me, I can think of other things to spend $1,000 on then the seat atm.

How bad is the one you have? Is the foam under your ass done? Meaning does it feel like your setting in a bean bag?

If the foam is still firm then all you need is a new cover and a lot of hog rings and a pair of hog ring pliers and a little muscle.

Weigh out you options. You could spend between 200.00 and 600.00 to get what you want.

The Indian blanket has always been a good alternative.

Installing factory style seat covers isn't too hard. I haven't done it on a pickup, but I've done it a lot of other vehicles both new and old. Just pay attention to how it comes off and put the new one on carefully. And, if you need hog rings and pliers, make sure to get good quality ones.

mines actually not bad but the slider is bent where the handle is and the wire is gone. It wouldnt slide right.

Ive been looking at prices and new seats and its just more than im willing to spend. Im thinking of finding a junkyard seat and learning something new by recovering one.

Now that I've been looking I want a bench seat with the fold down armrest that folds back into the seat. I think ford trucks have them. and some caprices.

I guess I could take my seat out and take a few pics and see if you guys think its saveable.
